Good evening, buenas tardes.  I am, soy Msgr. William John-Lewis, el coordinador zonal de las Antilles y el Caribe, the zonal coordinator of the Caribean and the Antilles.

I would like to share a brief reflection on the theme of our Encounter; Proclaiming the Word of God in a fragile world.  I am grateful to Octavio Esqueda  for his article on his reflections in the midst of a pandemic.

Quisiera compartir una breve reflexión sobre el tema de nuestro Encuentro: Anunciamos la Palabra de Dios en un mundo frágil.  Estoy agradecido a Octavio Esqueda por sus ideas  en medio de la pandemia mundial. 

I will do this in five stages, the first three dealing with the fragility of the world and the ending with 2 stages stating the power of the word of God and the nececessity of the Word of God in our fragile world.

Esta reflexión tiene cinco etapas.  Los tres primeros tratan de la fragilidad del ser humano y nuestro mundo; y los dos últimos del poder de la Palabra de Dios y la necesidad de esta Palabra en nuestro mundo frágil.

1.- The first reality is: Life is short and human beings are fragile.

La primera realidad es:  La vida es corta y los seres humanos somos frágiles

Crises remind us that we are all fragile and susceptible to getting sick and even dying suddenly. In general, human beings make plans for the future thinking that we are in control of our lives, but a small virus, a microorganism that we cannot even see, is enough to completely alter our routines and destroy our plans. 

Las crisis nos recuerdan que todos somos frágiles y susceptibles a enfermarnos e incluso morir repentinamente. En general los seres humanos hacemos planes para el futuro pensando que tenemos el control de nuestras vidas, pero basta un pequeño virus, un microorganismo que no podemos ni ver, para alterar completamente nuestras rutinas y destruir nuestros planes.

2.- La segunda realidad es:

Todos somos iguales.
